 Overview

About the Book:
Born into a peasant family in a tiny isolated Chinese village in 1893, Mao Zedong Managed to become not only the supreme ruler of his own vast nation but one the most influential military and political leaders of the twentieth century. “Political power is obtained from the barrel of the gun,” Mao declared early in his more than 20-year-long struggle to win control of China for himself and the Communist Party he dominated. In accordance with his famous dictum, Mao used his remarkable skill and resolve as a military leader to transform a small, ragtag band of farmers into a highly motivated and disciplined army of millions; to develop a guerrilla warfare strategy for it to combat technologically superior domestic and foreign opponents; and to ultimately gain control of the most populous country in the world.
