ABOUT THE BOOK
This book is joint research product of scholars from India and Turkmenistan and focuses on current trends in relations between the two countries. It contains a detailed examination of the cultural, historical and economic aspects of India–Turkmenistan co-operation at the bilateral and international levels. This compendium provides valuable and timely insights into the contours of their relationship and emerging trends of importance to students and scholars of regional and international affairs around the world. India Central Asia Foundation, New Delhi and the Institute of International Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkmenistan hope that this book would contribute towards a greater and enlightened appreciation of Indo-Turkmen relations. Both believe that this book would be of use at the Track I and Track II levels of engagement. It is likely to be of direct interest to scholars, policy makers, diplomats, entrepreneurs, academics, and decision makers in both countries.
ABOUT Author
Professor (Dr.) Ramakant Dwivedi is, currently, Head, Centre for International Studies, Management Education & Research Institute (MERI), New Delhi. He is also Director of the India Central Asia Foundation (ICAF), New Delhi. He has a PhD from the Central Asian Studies Division of the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was an Associate Fellow at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), New Delhi (2003 – 2007). He had worked as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and Gp Director of Afghanistan, Central and West Asia Desk with the National Security Advisor Office, Prime Minister Office, Government of India (2007 – 2024).
He has represented India in 14 countries as a domain expert and part of an official delegation for scholarly presentations. His published works include 45 research papers in national/international journals, edited books. He has authored/edited nine books on international relations. He has widely travelled in the Eurasian region. Dr. Dwivedi was awarded Nehru Memorial Scholarship for Doctoral Studies by the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library (earlier Nehru Memorial Museum and Library & Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund), Teen Murti House, New Delhi.
Professor (Dr.) Ovezdurdy Muhammetberdiyev is currently, professor of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. He is a Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences.
He worked as a Senior Researcher in the Institute of Philosophy and law of Academy of Science of Turkmenistan (1992-1994), Head of Department of Philosophy and Sociology of Magtymguly Turkmen State University (1994-1996), Deputy Minister for higher and specialised secondary schools of Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan (1996-1999), specialist, head of many establishments of Turkmen National Institute for State Report and Information (1999-2009) and Professor, head of Department of Economic-humanitarian subjects of Academy of State service (2009-2023). Since 2023, Dr. Muhammetberdiyev is a Professor of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
