ABOUT THE BOOK

Why this book, and why now? Because quantum technologies will redefine how military power is understood long before they are seen on every platform. This book enables officers to grasp the concepts—what do qubits, entanglement, and quantum security really mean and then shows precisely how those ideas translate into various defence scenarios for the Army, Navy and Air Force. This book addresses senior, middle, and junior officers across the defence forces, offering a common language to connect science with strategy.

Each chapter deconstructs one core concept in clear, non-technical terms, followed by curated use cases that mirror real-use cases. Quantum-safe communications are explained through the lens of authenticating orders across contested networks; quantum-aided navigation and precision timing are linked to keeping formation and legal time-stamping when GNSS is unreliable; quantum-enhanced sensing is illustrated by detecting stealth corridors, spoofed traffic, and subsea threats; and quantum-informed computing is made tangible by planning examples that compare classic and quantum-inspired approaches. Side-by-side diagrams, short analogies, and quick reference summaries allow readers to correlate the “why” of quantum mechanics with the “how” of military applications.

The aim is to understand before deployment and recognize what the quantum advantages are for various scenarios across battlefields. Officers will learn concepts and indicators to map “quantum readiness,” and pathways to align emerging capabilities with doctrine, training, and coalition standards without needing to be engineers. The next competitive edge lies in securing trust, timing, and truth. This book is the bridge between first principles and practical relevance, helping every officer connect the dots from classroom concepts to credible-use cases in the field.
