India`s Export Renaissance: The ESIR Strategy for Global Trade Power proposes a transformative approach to India’s export governance. Instead of relying on the traditional “announce–implement –review” policy cycle, Dr. Amiya Chandra introduces a dynamic and adaptive model designed to anticipate disruptions and respond to global trade shifts in real time.
At the centre of this approach is ESIR — Engage, Sustain, Initiate, and Recalibrate—a proactive framework that aims to convert uncertainty into opportunity. ESIR emphasises foresight and adaptability, enabling India to anticipate challenges rather than simply react to them. The strategy integrates emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, blockchain traceability, and digital monitoring systems to build a smarter and more responsive governance structure.
The book also introduces innovative tools including DART, BharatE, SNEW, TIDE, and UEPD, which together form an integrated digital ecosystem for trade governance. These systems aim to improve coordination, transparency, and decision-making while strengthening export competitiveness.
By focusing on adaptability, digital trust, and the empowerment of MSMEs, the ESIR framework envisions a resilient National Export Competitiveness Ecosystem, positioning India to become a stronger global trade leader as it approaches India@2047.
ABOUT Author
Dr. Amiya Chandra, a former Indian Trade Service (1989 batch) officer, has played a key role in shaping India’s trade and development policies across ministries including Commerce, the Prime Minister’s Office, Textiles, Agriculture, Youth Affairs & Sports, and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation. He also served as Private Secretary to three Union Ministers, contributing to high-level policy decisions.
As the Development Commissioner of Kandla and Mundra SEZs, he oversaw major export operations, promoted Green SEZ initiatives, and advanced sustainable industrial development. He also contributed to international trade negotiations and authored Foreign Trade Policy Vision Documents (2021 and 2023).
Dr. Chandra currently serves as a Visiting Professor at JNU, Visiting Fellow at the Vivekananda International Foundation, and a member of NITI Aayog’s Working Group on Trade. He is the author of five books on trade policy, urban innovation, and agricultural exports, widely read by policymakers, scholars, and industry leaders.
