National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) are
the most authoritative events in the politics of the People’s Republic of
China. The 18th National Congress of the CPC, which was held on 8-14
November 2012 in Beijing, witnessed a transition to the fifth generation of the
leadership.
Part One of this book consists of thirteen papers dealing
with the change of emphasis from growth to more inclusive development as well
as covers diverse fields including centre province relations fiscal and
monetary arrangements, use of cyberspace Party-PLA relations, and situations in
the ethnic minority regions of Xinjiang, Tibet and Inner Mongolia. Part Two of
the book analyses the outcomes of the 18th National Congress of the
CPC. It also includes contributions which refer to individual perspectives on
the Party Congress, continuing intra-Party debates and brief data about the new
leading figures at the highest echelons of the Party.

C.V. Ranganathan
graduated from Madras University with a B.A. (honours) in Economics and joined
the Indian Foreign Service in 1959. He has a diploma (with distinction) in
Chinese language and literature from the University Hong Kong. He has served in
the Ministry of External Affairs and in Diplomatic Missions in Beijing, New
York and Bonn.
Sanjeev Kumar is
Research Fellow at the Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi. He received
his Ph.D. from School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University,
New Delhi. Dr. Kumar is a recipient of the prestigious ASIA Fellows Award and
conducted field research in Shaanxi, Anhui and Zhejiang provinces of China.
