Maj. Gen. Raj Mehta, AVSM,
VSM, retired from the Indian Army in may 2006, after putting in over 37 years
of distinguished service. An Armoured Corps officer, he has, besides commanding
an Armoured Regiment and Armoured Brigade, had the unique distinction of
serving seven tenures in Jammu and Kashmir, India, in a counter insurgency and
Line of Control environment. He has also commanded a Rashtriya Rifles Sector in
South Kashmir and an Infantry Division in North Kashmir.
