Herb Kavet was born in Brooklyn N.Y. in 1937 with such limited athletic ability that he was invited off most schoolboy teams. After attending M.I.T. he served in the army and was introduced to running during paratrooper training. The running led to triathlons and in 1989 he was chosen to represent the U.S., in his age group, at the first world triathlon championship. Over the years he continued to be competitive and joined in martial arts, biking, skiing, swimming and windsurfing activities with many younger people. So many of them were inspired by his healthy and successful life style that he decided to organize his methods into this book.
