is the first Indian effort towards understanding various dimensions of the
India- New Zealand relationship in the context of the rising power of Asian
countries. It is an attempt to develop an Indian perspective on New Zealand as
an actor and a stakeholder in the global and regional politics of the
Asia-Pacific region. The book offers fresh insights into the various elements
of this important relationship and their consequent strengths and weakness.

Man Mohini Kaul is a Professor at the Centre for
South, Central, South East of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru
University, New Delhi. A well known scholar of Southeast Asia and Southwest
Pacific studies, Prof Kaul has pioneered research in India on the Southwest
Pacific, and her book, “ Perals in the Ocean: Security Perspective in the South
west Pacific Region”, was one of the first books to be published on this region
in India. She has authored and edited several books and published numerous
articles in leading national and international academic journals. She has also
participated, chaired and organized a number of international and national
seminars and workshops, and led Government of India delegations to the region.
Dr. Vibhanshu Shekhar is Research Fellow, Indian Council of
World Affairs, New Delhi. Before joining the ICWA, Dr. Shekhar headed Southeast
Asia Research Program at New Delhi-based Institute of Peace and Conflict
Studies for a year.
