Vijay Shakuja :
Vijay Shakuja is visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), Singapore. Currently he is Director (Research), Indian Council of World Affairs, a leading think-tank in New Delhi. A former Indian Navy officer, Vijay Sakhuja received his Doctorate from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has been on the research faculty of the Centre for Air Power Studies, Observer Research Foundation, and Research Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, and United Service Institution of India, all in New Delhi. Vijay Sakhuja has published books, monographs, and policy briefs on issues of geopolitics, maritime security, politics of the Arctic, climate change and diplomacy. His research areas include Asia-Pacific security, maritime and naval developments, politics of the High North, climate change debate, and marine risk analyses. He is the author of Confidence Building from the Sea: An Indian Initiative and co-editor of Nagapattinam to Suvarnadwipa: Reflections on the Chola Naval Expeditions to Southeast Asia and Fisheries Exploitation in the Indian Ocean: Threats and Opportunities, both published in 2009.
